Best Meatloaf Recipe

Serves:

Ingredients: 

2 large eggs, beaten
2/3 cup/150 mL milk
2 slices white bread
1 tsp/5 mL Worchestershire sauce
1/2 tsp/2 mL salt
1/4 tsp/1 mL pepper
1 1/2 lb/750 g lean ground beef
½ cup ketchup
1 cup tomato sauce

Optional:
1 cup/250 mL finely chopped onion
2/3 cup/150 mL grated carrot
1 cup/250 mL Cheddar cheese, grated

Instructions: 

 

  1. Preheat oven to 350F/175C.
  2. In a large bowl soak bread in milk till bread softens and absorbs most of the liquid.
  3. Mix the rest of the ingredients into the bowl, adding beef last.
  4. Mix well and spoon the mixture into a loaf pan.
  5. Top with tomato sauce.
  6. Bake uncovered for about one and a half hours, until no longer pink inside
